Phthalates are found in perfume and are harmful to the thyroid by decreasing T4, are difficult for the liver and kidneys to detoxify, they can cause stress to the reproductive system, causing harm to the developing fetus, and last but not leaves they mimic the hormone estrogen and causes earlier puberty and breast development in girls. Phthalates have been linked to breast cancer.
They are added to plastics to make them soft and flexible and are found in children’s toys, infant’s teething rings and pacifiers, food containers, hair dyes, cosmetics, nail polish, soap, shampoo, and air fresheners
